EarthX 2021 Inspire Through Eco-Art Competition:
No Time to Waste
Rules and Guidelines
Young artists, ages 5-22, will create a piece of art, either 2-D or 3-D, that illustrates the message of the theme: No Time to Waste. Contestants can use any medium or combination of media as long as the work meets the size requirements designated in the Official Rules.
The goals of the competition are twofold. The first is to give youth a voice about how they view the environmental issues in the world in which they live, whether local or global. An additional goal of the competition is to give youth the ability to raise awareness about the environmental issues important to them and move others to take action through the creation of their work.
The artwork should address this year’s theme of No Time to Waste. The subject matter of the art can center around different aspects of this theme. It could focus on the concept of waste. Waste can be seen as landfill or trash, including plastics, and its impact on the environment. Waste can also be viewed as a misuse of resources, such as water or trees, so conservation of resources, including wildlife, could be a focus. The subject matter of the artwork could focus on the concept of time and the urgent need for action in a certain environmental arena. The artist could also choose to depict solution(s) that should quickly be put into place in a specified area of the environment. These are just a few ideas and should in no way limit the interpretation of the theme on the artist’s message.
First and Second Place cash prizes will be awarded in four divisions: (Division 1-Ages 5-9; Division 2- Ages 10-13; Division 3-Ages 14-18; and Division 4-Ages 19-22). An Honorable Mention will also be recognized, but without a cash prize attached. At the sole discretion of EarthX, Divisions and Categories may be adjusted dependent upon the number and types of artwork submitted for judging.
