Division IV (Ages 19-22)

I took a picture of the sunset while I was camping in Yosemite in August. That was also the worst time of the California wildfires, and that picture later inspired me to paint a California fire in acrylic. In a world of increasing global warming, there is no way to guarantee that the next generation will still be able to see the beautiful sunsets we see today. Their world may be a landscape of fire ash, smoke, and burned trees. My final product was achieved by using Photoshop technology. The work is divided into two parts: the top part is the painting I originally created with propylene, and the bottom part is the original picture. I used a mirror as the frame of the work to organically combine the original picture and the painting, forming a montage contrast between the upper and lower parts. We can see the walnuts half open. Half of the unprotected seed cores represent the forest today. The other half, the hard walnut shell reflected in the mirror, represents the opportunity and future of our next generation to enjoy the same natural beauty. Through my works, I hope to call on people to care for our planet and plant seeds of hope for the future of the next generation. My works include photography, acrylic painting, and Photoshop. I will upload the material pictures and painting contents respectively.
