Division III (Ages 14-18)

In my drawing, I tried to portray planting a seed as something precious and important. In the pod is your child. Something that is not only crucial to life but also important to you personally. Around are factories, billowing with smog, and almost but not quite touching the baby. Planting a seed is precious, just like your family or friends. It can help slow the devastating effects of climate change. I know that pollution and greenhouse gas emissions are destroying the environment and will ruin lives in an unsustainable way. That is why planting a seed to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is so important. To convey this importance, I had smog crowding around the baby, which is in a pea pod. This baby represents a seed, which makes you have a connection to it and makes it seem more important to you. The baby is being held by a hard worker’s hands, someone who wants to protect their children. My hope for others seeing this is that it will make them feel that plating a seed is important. Not only for the world, but for you.
