Division II (Ages 10-13)

The young child is looking into a city of pollution in the picture. He is a young child, and that is where we need to Plant the Seed of change for the future. People need to teach children that pollution is causing so many problems for the earth. The child looks out to a large city of so many dreams and opportunities but it's filthy and the sky is depressing as dirty clouds fill the sky. The child is holding one single dandelion. The dandelion is a weed but is a symbol of hope and wishes as he blows on it and makes a wish. The wish is for change, and a world of no pollution, and in that one flower can be the dream of change. I used gray, brown, and black watercolors to show the sky as depressing and dirty forms of smoke and smog. I drew the city and used gray, black to show the person looking at the picture it's a sad world with all the pollution. I think if a person is looking at this picture he will feel the sadness the child sees as he looks out at the city. I hope the dandelion is a small green flower of hope, care, and a seed of what can be in this child's life if we make changes. The environment is important to me because I love nature and all the animals and living things in it. If we do not make changes with how we treat the environment we will not be able to enjoy it. People need to teach young children how to take care and stop pollution from ruining our earth. People can make small changes and together we can fix it.
