Division II (Ages 10-13)

My work relates to the theme by plating a seed of an idea about how to reduce the effects of global warming. One of the ways to reduce global warming is by recycling and that is why I used all recycled materials in my sculpture. The topic of global warming is important to me because we need our earth to live. More kids my age need to care about this topic so we can make changes to help our future. The global thermometer sculpture includes I newspaper, egg cartons, plastic lids, bags, wood, nails, cardboard, bottle caps, metal cans and product labels. The global thermometer sculpture incorporates two recognizable objects a globe and a thermometer. I wanted to clearly communicate that the world is not well and if we do not change our behavior then the world will get warmer and sicker. I hope when people view my sculpture that people will see the need to change our behaviors, like recycling and reusing products could help save our World!
