2020 - Division II (Grades 4-8)

My art project titled Rhino Love demonstrates how we should protect our wildlife. There are many animals on our endangered species list due to over hunting and poaching. I have made it my mission to inform people on this issue in hopes of repopulating those on the list and keeping other animals off the endangered list. Protecting our Earth is very important to me. We only have one Earth and I only have one lifetime to make an impact. I have a love for wildlife and I want to do my part to protect it and educate others as well. The White Rhino is already considered “near threatened” however with conservation efforts over the past century the population has increased by 20,000 world wide. This would not have happened without the hard work and education of others. It is important to encourage hunters to only hunt out of necessity so that they do not deplete our animal population. My project was created with a variety of artistic elements. While sculpting the hunter and the rhino out of clay I used texture, form, and color. In creating the tree I used shape, texture and color. All elements of art are important. My hope is that I can make a positive impact on the over hunting and poaching of animals. While viewing my art I would want others to stop and think...Our earth...Our Home...let’s protect it!
