2020 - Division II (Grades 4-8)

1. My work is about ocean pollution. Marine life is being suffocated by the pollution that enters its home, the ocean. 2. It is important to me because trash in the ocean kills marine life, and if we carry on like this most of the fish and the animals in the sea will be harmed or killed. I care about this because we need to take care of our Earth. Marine life has a right to live just like humans do. 3. I used bright colors for the coral and the starfish to show how beautiful they are. Then I used glue to add a layer on top. The glue is meant to show how the plastic and the pollution come down into the ocean and start to suffocate the marine life so that you can’t see their colors so clearly. 4. I want people who see it to feel some shock and also to feel sad that this is happening to marine life. I also want them to think about what they need to do to help stop the problem of pollution in the oceans.
