2020 - Division II (Grades 4-8)

Environmental pollution has been a hot topic of discussion in social media and news reports for many decades. Although human beings have made many advancements in science and technology, our earth’s cry to maintain their integrity remains. Environmental pollution has been identified as the major cause of health hazards for all living creatures. The synergistic effect of poor sanitation, exposure to toxic chemicals, poor hygiene, and air pollution is choking the earth and making it difficult for her survival. We all have heard, read, studied, researched, and debated about this topic much. In this artwork, I hope to portray that we must stop dwelling on the past and digging deeper to collect more information about pollution and to put it into action as time waits for no man. I was able to portray this by using older/rustic colors and only portraying time in color to show that it is always moving. Delay in action just stop the vicious cycle of environmental pollution, which could lead to permanent irreversible damage to the face of the earth. If you could stop and listen you can hear the whimpering of mother Earth and she is asking for your help. What can you do to stop pollution and sustain the life of our mother nature? It is time to act and time is ticking!
