2020 - Division II (Grades 4-8)

My project is called “ Bullet In Board “. It represents illegal poaching and how the animals are used for power and amusement. In this it also shows a little girl petting the deceased elephant as she realizes it isn’t free. Because as kids we sometimes don’t realize the real affect on poaching. This subject matters to me because animals have always been an important part of my existence, my pets are my escape and I want to protect them all the same way I do for mine. I used value to show off the shape and pronounce it. When creating this piece I started with simple shapes like a square and circle for the elephant. I used the lines to show texture in the girl's hair. Because most people say our kids are our future but if they can’t see the beauty of earth's animals, they won’t want to protect them or they won’t see them as an important part of the world.
