Our Earth. Our Home.
Eco-Art Competition.
My inspiration for this artwork first originated with the Australia fires and further evolved into how many animals are suffering due to pollution and climate change. I first added a blazing sky to represent all the fires, factories to represent pollution and urbanization, added the implication of an oil spill and dying fish, and littered the beach with trash and filth that people have carelessly thrown out. The sun being clouded by the pollution and smoke inspired the title for the artwork, "Our Future is Clouded", this describes how if we keep this up our world will be consumed by toxins and smoke causing plants to wither and possibly making our home planet uninhabitable. To communicate global warming and the ice caps melting I added a lone polar bear, floating on a shrinking ice floe in the water. To show the reality of what pollution and littering does, I wanted to show the suffering animals beached on the shore line with plastic blocking their eyesight and breathing. I believe the current situation of the overall health of our Earth is dire and should be extremely important to everyone. If we don't start taking action now, our world will crumble and fall, leaving us with a run-down, broken planet that we used to call home. My hope is that by creating this artwork it might spread some awareness of this situation. I feel like my drawing can help people realize what is happening to our home planet, Earth, and what will happen if nothing is done about it.
