Division II (Ages 10-13)

In this artwork, a Man is standing on a barren landscape, with one foot on a fish and holding a spear made of a tree branch. A big bright flame is burning behind him and all the trees have been chopped down with only their stumps remaining. There is fire and smoke in the horizon and a herd of elephants is driven from their home. A dog is muzzled and leashed, and a hapless chicken sits behind a plate of chicken rice. It shows that mankind planted the seed of destruction by exploiting animals and plants in an unsustainable way. The Man is in colour (the effect), whilst everything else is in black and white (the consequence). This theme is very close to my heart, because irresponsible human activity is causing environmental threats such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, ozone depletion and water scarcity, which poses real existential threat to all living things on our planet. I hope that people who see my work will understand they can change the course of destruction and protect the environment.
