In my work, I strived to show the profound impact efforts to conserve the ecosystem could have on the ocean. The multicolored coral and plants convey the theme of fertility and growth that could happen in the earth if we all consistently put in effort to fight against pollution. For me, ocean awareness has always been something crucial, especially pertaining to how it affects the animals around us. Since I was little, I’ve always loved animals as I’ve grown up living with many of them. However, when I see media headlines or videos talking about the imminent dangers many of these animals face, it has inspired me to spread the importance of conserving our world. Through means of art, I hope to convey feelings of hope, empathy, and determination to those who wish to help as well. Because of things like overfishing, trash littering, infrastructure, and oil runoff, many fish in the ocean find themselves trapped and suffocated in plastic or without a home because their homes have been replaced with human construction. However, if we are conscientious of our carbon footprints, we can minimize the risk for many marine species and flora. It can start with the little things, like recycling or trying to reduce the amount of gas you use up in a day, but when many people start to do these, it can cause a bigger impact that some may think.
