Division II (Ages 10-13)

The reason I chose Unibee is that they are a part of my life. I chose a Unicorn because it represents planting the seeds for believing and storytelling. I chose a bee because it represents pollination and the earth in general. Without them, the Earth wouldn't be the same. I entered this because I thought that people my age really started not believing in unicorns, fairies, and griffins. For my materials, I used all eco-friendly things: recyclable materials, paper mache, eco-friendly paint, and yarn. Cloud, my Unibee is supposed to represent getting your COVID vaccine. I saw this little girl crying when she was about to get her shot, and then in school, my art teacher (Ms. Steck) said, “We are making fictional animals. Make your animal solve a problem in the world.” Then I thought back to my vaccination, how could I help that little girl and others? I made “Cloud” to help kids and people like her. And with that, I need to thank the people that helped me do this. Ms. Steck, you gave me the idea to do this wonderful project and helped me open my eyes to a new world of art (also, my class will forever miss you). Caroline, thank you for helping me all of the time and being the kind, funny person you are. Livia, you kept me going with your wit and humor. You are the best friends ever.
