In my painting, The Protected, a horse is depicted in a field with flowers. There is a storm overhead that the horse and plants are being protected from by a person holding a large leaf acting as an umbrella. This fits the theme Plant The Seed by showing a person helping out our plants and animals. Protecting our plants and animals is important to me because they help us survive and bring us joy. We need to appreciate all that they have done for us and do good for them in turn. In my painting, I used the flowers and grass to symbolize plants and a horse to symbolize the animals on this planet. The reason I used a horse in particular is because they have helped us throughout human history and without them, many civilizations would have not even existed. Horses have helped us very much but we have not always helped them. To this day, horses are mistreated and that's why it's our turn to help them now. Plants helped us early on in human history but as we developed technology we started to forget about the plants and as we built more factories and built more devices we started to hurt the plants that helped us so much. Now it’s our turn to help them. I hope that when people see this they will see animals and plants living in harmony together and one person taking a small step in protecting them. I hope that this will make others think about how living things on this earth have helped us and they will realize that they can take a step to help this planet also. And who knows, maybe one step will lead to another and one day we can all live in harmony together.
