Earth’s resources have been exhausted with only waste left behind. Humans have a tendency to think that environmental problems are far off from them. Sometimes living in the comfort of our homes makes global warming and ocean pollution miles off. This bystander attitude makes us think throwing a piece of trash on the floor won’t do anyone harm. After all, it’s only one piece. However, if everyone has that attitude, nothing will ever get better. The earth will become more and more polluted until there is nothing left but trash like my art piece. With this piece, I want to plant the seed of awareness. I want to make people realize that there actions do matter even if just a little bit. Wether that is to pick up even one piece of trash on a hike or joining a beach cleanup program. Because the mindset that these problems are far is truly dangerous. The problem of unconcerned people is important to me because I seen people who are aware of these dire environmental problems but simply don’t care and that concerns me. I was one of those people before I realized that my actions did matter. I hope those who look at my art will realize the urgency of earth’s situation and decide to help even just a little because I believe these baby steps will lead to something wonderful.
