2020 - Division III (Grades 9-12)

In 1992 28,800 rubber ducks were lost at sea. There are still washing up on beaches 28 years later. The elements in my art work relate to the theme in many ways. The blue correlates to the sea and the green represents mother earth. Also the yellow ducks going across the artwork represent the currents of the ocean and how they connect us all . They carry both good and bad to the people of the earth. The date is there to recall the event for the viewer. The pollution of the sea is an important issue to me because it is killing the sea overall. Over the years we have seen the sea coral losing its color and its beauty. The killing of the earth coral is killing us since it is producing half of Earth's oxygen. It’s also killing the aquatic life. We have seen sea turtles being affected most recently with the straws. I hope my art piece can bring awareness to the viewer about ocean pollution.
