Eco-Art Competition 2022

Plant the Seed. Inspire Through Eco-Art Competition 2022 1. How does your work express your ideas about the theme: Plant the Seed? I understand the “Plant the Seed” theme as basically planting the seed of education in people. This is also because I believe we need to keep sensitizing people about the importance of being eco-friendly. Hence, my work shows an imprint of my hand and the outline of a head. By the action of planting the seed through the seeded fingers of the hand, the seeds are entering the head that is the symbol of education. I also filled the shape of the brain with seeds to show how it is gaining education, I have used a lot of real, dried seeds from the kitchen such as: mustard, fenugreek, coriander, red chilli, barley, cardamom, basil, sesame, rice, yellow lentils, jackfruit and apple. The idea is that we can replant to grow a kitchen garden so as to be self-sufficient and learn to eat fresh and pesticide-free herbs and food. I also wanted the artwork to be simple to understand and this is why its main focus is the hand and the silhouette of the head with seeds and real and dried leaves embellishing them. 2. Why is this idea important to you? This idea is important to me because educating people is important as we need to make people realize that we need to act in order to save our planet Earth. Our actions have an impact and it is time to be more environment-conscious. Just like a seed grows into a sapling, we hope that planting the seed of education will slowly turn into a positive mentality for a better environment for us to live healthily. 3. What do you think will happen when people see your work? People will see that we can use eco-friendly materials and still create interesting artworks. They may also be surprised by the simplicity of the work and the thoughts behind it. I hope that my work will inspire them to re-think their ways of seeing things and be more eco-friendly.
