Division III (Ages 14-18)

Have you ever thought about how humans have affected wildlife and animals? Almost everybody has, but no one really thinks about the smaller yet deadly facts of what humanity has been doing to nature and its inhabitants. Many plants and animals alike have suffered at the hands of humans, and no signs show that that’s going to stop unless we make a change right now. Corporate companies, overpopulation, and many other factors have contributed to the growing problem of air pollution as well as other types of pollution along with it. Following pollution, many of nature’s balances have been thrown off over the years. Factors such as booming insect populations, the decrease of natural predators, extinction, extreme weather, etc. have been mostly caused by human related issues. I painted my piece, although exaggerated, to show that as humans continue to destroy nature, everything is thrown out of balance and many new issues will continue to arise. I thought that, as you view my painting, I really wanted you to think of how many things could really go wrong and that certain things aren’t as far-fetched as they may seem. So, be mindful about how you and your family can be environmentally safe.
