Seed of Hope Our world is surrounded with plastics and industrial pollution. In my drawing, our earth is almost entirely encapsulated by a plastic bag. However, there is a green seed of hope growing from the center of the earth reaching the outside. The green seed is a symbol for an Eco-friendly lifestyle and people who advocate for less plastic and less dependency on fossil fuel. The green color has spread all over the continents where people live and represents the hope for mankind. This is our chance now to stop using plastics and stop the pollution. If we plant the green seed in everyone’s heart today, our future will escape from being wrapped fully by plastic and pollution. My drawing is a warning with a cloudy sky occluded by smoke if we do nothing. Earth inside the plastic bag reminds us of the overuse of plastics in our daily life. The bag around the earth is also a metaphor for the greenhouse gas, generated from fossil fuels causing climate change. More importantly, beyond the warning, I want to plant the green seed in everyone’s mind after they see my drawing. I hope they change to sustainable resources and Eco-friendly materials from plastic bags, gasoline cars and fossil/chemical based products. I hope the green seed will sprout, grow, and thrive in everyone’s life. For every parent, this is really important for your generation, my generation and the future of mankind.
