Division III (Ages 14-18)

The depiction of the two deer and the tree work represents peace and brightness that is emitted by nature, and the importance that people contribute in sustaining that peace, whether it is through large scale regulations to preserve and protect our forests, or through the act and simplicity of planting a seed. It is important to me that wildlife habitats are protected because of how much they contribute to our planet, many beautiful creatures and species around the world, as well as my own personal aspiration to work with animals in the future as a veterinarian. Through the use of acrylic paints I displayed different styles of painting, I decided to make the tree and deer as well as the area around it very bright. I also diluted the paints in water to give a more delicate and juvenile style, while the outer surroundings are filled with dark, strong colors as well as some depictions of waste that represent pollution and negligence of nature. The meeting point were both styles collide seem like a battle between the more dominant display of darkness and how close it is to overtaking the light emitted by nature. I feel that viewers should feel as if the darkness is stronger than the light, and is getting to the point of disturbing the peace instilled by the light of nature, displaying the need to contribute in the sustainment of wildlife habitats.
