Division II (Ages 10-13)

The message in this piece is that we need to sacrifice things that are a part of our daily lives in order to plant the seed of the future. I think that, with the way society runs now, we aren't going to make it very far before our planet can no longer sustain us. I believe that we need to change the way we do things. To express my ideas, the media I used is paint, because I felt as if it would be a good medium to produce the quality I was looking for. As for the symbols in this piece, the hand represents humanity, and the blood the sacrifices we need to make. The city, mountain, forest, and water surrounding the hand, connected to the hand by streams of blood, represent how our choices affect the whole world. The blue tree growing out of the hand, which is growing off of the blood, represents how our sacrifices feed the future. The person leaning on it represents how we will depend on the future made by our sacrifices. I think that how I want this piece to affect a viewer, is to make them think about their choices in their everyday life, and how much it will affect our future.
