Division III (Ages 14-18)

Relating with the theme, I set my scene in a polluted farm where grows mutant vegetables. A new seed was planted here. All the horrible changes on the vegetables indicated the influence of pollution on the environment, and also suggested those results would finally affect humans ourselves when they eat those vegetables. Moreover, the plated seed means that this issue is still taking place on our planet, and will continue to grow bigger and worse like a seed grows if we don’t take action. Food pollution is important for me because it's close to our life and I had a deep feeling of the food pollution. First, everyone eats food every day. Among all the environmental issues, polluted food can be reached by people most easily. Talking about food pollution, people would find themselves related the most and influence them the most. Second, I truly have felt how terrible food pollution is. Back in the 2010s, due to the residue of pesticides and heavy metals, my mom always washes vegetables at least three times to ensure it is clean and safe. My mom’s habit gave me a deep impression of food pollution and how dangerous it could be, which ultimately drove me to choose this environmental issue. In my view, this Entry would open the audience’s mind, recall them the risks and importance of land and food pollution, and pull more people’s attention to this issue to prevent us from the mutant future farm I depicted.
