Division III (Ages 14-18)

The environmental elements displayed in my work relate to the theme: Plant the Seed because the nature and flowers are known to capture carbon dioxide and release oxygen. On one side I painted a large release of carbon dioxide and fishes that are near death, while on the other side I painted flowers and a healthy polar bear to express how flowers and overall nature can help clean the air making it healthier to breath for not only us but also animals. This environmental issue is important to me because the release of unhealthy chemicals can severely damage someone’s ability to breath, therefore resulting in a difficult every day life. The artistic element between the damaged and the blooming show the changes that can be seen with plant preservation and growth. The two contrasting sides show what could be the future with the help of nature. When people view this piece I hope that they continue to work on the growth and conserving of nature through at-home plants, trees, and even the grass we walk on. If the artwork can inspire one person to plant a seed and pay it forward, it will make me very grateful as an artist as well.
