Exposure to nature has many positive effects such as reducing anger, fear and stress, and promoting many physical and psychological health benefits. Because the theme is “Plant the Seed,” I want to express how planting an abundance of things like flowers and trees, which connect, immerse and bring you closer to nature could change our world for the better. This is important to me because I feel like we have too much violence around us. As an American-born citizen, the amount of school shootings, police brutality and gun violence shocks me and honestly makes me a bit scared. I want to express spreading nature, to hopefully distill this violence, and how it can help blossom peace through not just America, but the entire world. The media I used to create my artwork was Prismacolor color pencils. Some elements that I used to amplify my message are universally known signs of peace, such as the peace symbol and dove of peace. I included a dead tree with hearts to signify that anything, even if it doesn’t have the prettiest exterior, is capable of spreading love and deserves being loved. How I hope that my entry will affect viewers is to make them feel connected to nature, and realize the value nature has to our society and how important it is to all of us
