Division II (Ages 10-13)

Plant The seed Polluted turtle This Painting is based off a turtle swimming through a polluted sea of cigarettes, plastic straws, masks and plastic bags as well as a rope all being the cause of man-made pollution. This is related to the theme “Plant the Seed” because this turtle is being harmed whether by eating the pollution or by the fact that its overall habitat is affected by this man-made pollution. This issue is extremely important to me because I believe that all animals have a soul and I put myself in their situation and how I would feel with my home being polluted and destroyed. It makes me very feel bad for them. I used acrylic paint to portray my ideas making this painting all by hand. This entry should be portraying the message of a turtle in distress, and I think that my painting should have a great deal of impact on the judges self-conscious to stand up to pollution and help me make a change in the world of the sea planting a new seed for all the animals in it. Thank you, Maia Basna
