2021 - Division II (Ages 10-13)

The environmental elements displayed in my art piece relate to the theme, No time to Waste, because it is a drawing of the earth divided into two parts. A healthy earth and unhealthy earth. The healthy earth has healthy animals, growing trees, clean water, and eco-friendly methods to save the environment. The unhealthy earth has burning buildings, smokestacks, dying plants, pollution, contaminated water, and dying animals. The environmental issue is important to me because I feel we need to take care of the earth like it takes care of all of us. The earth provides us clean water to drink, non-polluted air, the ability to plant and grow healthy crops, gives us shelter, and medicine. These are all things we need and the earth gives to us. We should be treating it with more care. The artistic elements to use my art piece were printer paper, a pencil, fine liners, pencil crayons, and a stencil. I think people will understand the topic visually because I’ve divided the earth into two parts and the clock is in the middle. The clock represents, No Time to Waste, because we still have time to make changes and save our Earth. I also think that because my drawing is round, people will understand what would happen if we continue to not care about our Earth, having the healthy Earth rotate may bring us to the unhealthy side.
