2021 - Division III (Ages 14-18)

1. No Time to Waste is a great initiative created to save the environment from detrimental results. My art work relates to the theme because it introduces the audience to the harmful impacts of human intervention in the nature. This, in turn, causes a great loss of natural habitats of the diverse animals we have on this planet. One of the aspects of human intervention I chose to represent in my art is pollution. The dark side to the left of the elephants represents how the elephant’s beautiful, lush-green habitat is being destroyed by the harmful smoke and water pollution. 2. This issue is important to me because this is not just a planet, it is OUR planet and we all should be proud of it. This planet of ours is home to many diverse species, and ruining their habitat is just another way of slowly killing these innocent creatures and losing some of the precious resources of the world that we are so proud of. Why would we want to destroy something we are so proud of and claim to be ours? 3. I used colors and drawings to represent the issue. Just like dark colors represent evil and harm, the dark side of my art also represents that. It demonstrates how the human intervention, such as pollution, factories, and new construction, is a harm to our valuable species. Bright colors, on the other hand, represent life, happiness and beauty, which is represented on the right side of my art. It represents the happy life that these species used to live but are slowly losing due to the dark side. The elephant in the middle is just one example of the many animals that are in danger.
