2021 - Division III (Ages 14-18)

At any time we can make a change, we could make a change right now but we choose not to. If everyone decided that they would go out and just pick up one piece of garbage that would help out a lot or if everybody started to recycle. This is important to me because what we put out into the environment comes back to us . For example we put plastic into the ocean, then a fish eats it, then we decide that we want to go eat some fish, then we have plastic inside of us because that’s what they’ve been eating. To communicate this message I had to do some research so before I started mapping out my project I started thinking about how it the effects of plastic being in our ocean and I read some articles about how a lot fish and sea creatures in the world were found dead around beaches and along boats and that’s what inspired my work. I hope that people who see my artwork realize that they can make a change, even something that seems so small can help and if everybody has that mindset then we can make the world better.
