Division III (Ages 14-18)

In my piece of artwork, you can see that I have drawn trees clustered around each other, and at the center is a round sphere that makes out to be the earth. The trees in the piece represent dandelion seeds as the earth is the core of the dandelion. This drawing is supposed to represent how dandelion seeds fly away as natural causes blow on the flower making the seeds disperse and multiply in numbers as they happen to grow on the soil where the wind takes them. This artwork interprets a similar concept to where it is telling the audience they can be planting seeds just like how we can plant dandelion seeds with one blow of wind for the better of our environment. As I was working on this artwork, it came across to me that more trees every day are getting cut down. The fewer trees we have on our earth affect the way we may live in the future as trees are critical for the environment and the many resources we rely on that are made from trees. This artwork portrays a soft look to the piece as it is like a simple dandelion in a field with its seeds blowing away, for the piece is supposed to be calming in a sense. I think there are many ways to interpret this piece of art but the main focus for this piece is to hopefully bring awareness and change for those who view this piece, to come and realize that planting the seeds can seem little but can have a big impact.
