Our rainforests are being ruined. Trash, cutting down trees, and loss of habitat are all environmental elements displayed in my art work. This relates to the theme "plant the seed" because in my artwork it shows one tree left and there are three chopped down trees which is saying we need to plant more seeds so we can have more trees. This environmental issue is important to me because of the fact that cutting down trees does two bad things that impacts the environment. 1) Trees give us oxygen, so with less trees we have less oxygen and that can lead to problems. 2) Cutting down trees causes the loss of habitats for all sorts of animals. That is why we see animals in urban areas where they do not belong. Littering also does not just hurt the animals but it also hurts the environment by polluting the air and the forests. I used recycled aluminum foil, newspaper and tissue paper to make the trees. I also used these recycled materials to create a lot of my art work because that is good for the environment. I hope when people view my artwork they get worried about the rainforest and commit to help to make it better. I hope that they will plant new trees and commit to pick up trash like the girls in my sculpture.
