To Be a Fear

2020 - Division II (Grades 4-8)

Many of us fear something and for me it's heights, but I wonder if I was a plant what would I fear? After thinking about it for a while, I decided that if I were a plant I would fear pollution. But...what's one of our main causes of pollution? Then it came to me...human greed. Some of us want the latest toy, some want the coolest car, and some of us want the fanciest jewelry. The factories that make these things also create pollution which hurts our environment and soon will hurt us too. In my artwork, I have a tree drained of color which is looking into the water and seeing it's fear. The jewels in the whirlpool represent human greed. The pollution on the sides represent fear coming upon the tree and withering. Even though this doesn't affect us much now, it will in the future. This is our Earth, our home, our responsibility.
